I'm not sure if this really qualifies as a "how to" because it's so simple once you know the deal, so if it's better in a different forum, mods should feel free to move it.
In any case, I've seen a few references to folks using a Mirror Wire from Radar Mount to hardwire their radar detector or dashcam. I just did it for an Escort Passport Max 2, so I figured I'd save you some work. As you can see in this picture, the ground wire goes in the second socket from the right (when viewing the mirror plug from the front) and the hot wire goes in the far right socket. With this configuration, your device will only be powered when the car is on.
I did this on a 2016 CX-9 Touring with Premium Package, which has a Gentex MOBHL4 mirror. I would guess other mirrors are wired differently.
I understand some folks have trouble getting the Mirror Wire's leads into the sockets, but I didn't have any major problems. The ground went right in. The hot wire required a little maneuvering, but nothing major. Note that the leads are flattened not cylindrical, so if it won't slide in, try rotating the flat surface 90 degrees.
Good luck!
