out of the country for about a month, came back and the car braked like sh!t! the steering wheel wiggled like crazy, and the pedal was pulsating. visible rust when I checked. drove it for 2 hrs and the steering was oK but you can still feel the brake pedal.

RUST for under a yr old CX5!! (omg)

brakes discs are supposed to rust... ANY car will do this... what did you expect?

... and you should have worked off that rust on driving away because your effective braking distance is busted.

not very responsible.

Normal. After a rainy day, or even some heavy humidity you will find the surface of the rotors have oxidized.

Now if you live in an area where they put magnesium chloride on the roads, it will be much worse.

If you have a pulsating rotor, you or your dealer might have to remove the rotor and clean the mating surfaces between the hub and rotor. Sometimes the rust will "jack up" in between the rotor and hub mating surface, and make the rotor and wheel out of true with the hub.

Lemon Law / Attorney - If you dont have any I can recommend the Texas Hammer. Forewarning he comes riding on top of an 18 wheeler - make sure you have the parking spot for him.

you're going to see rust on any brake even right after a rain..... "the car braked like sh!t" was all that accumulated rust, no car is going stop like new with all that rust, pads are probably caked with rust now....

also it depends how you stored the car for a month and also the weather plays a factor like big swings between temperature extremes affecting your tire pressure, you may have tire "flatspotting" see link:

my co-worker jacks up and garages his car if you plans to leave the car for more than a month.....

I'm lazy, I just give the keys to a trustworthy relative and ask them to drive around the block once a week and make sure not to park in the same exact spot to prevent tire flatspotting.

After a car wash the rotors would form rust as they dry up. All this in a matter of 1 hour. For reference hit up the Porsche and BMW forums as they have the same issues. That's because rotors are supposed to rust. They're bare metal.

Might have some buildup where the rotor was against the pad as a possible reason for the rotor pulsation
