Can you buy a new subscription or do you pay per update? I guess it will be over a year before even early purchasers of the new CX-5 run into this problem but wonder if Mazda has announced how they plan to handle this.

Sure waze is good, however when or IF we ever get waze on the infotainment system then it would be good through the CarPlay or Android auto. But until then......

use waze if you don't care about privacy issues or have data everywhere... otherwise, stick to the stock nav system

Pay per update. Not like you need one every year. Stuff don't change that much.
