2016 CX-9 Signature trim
If anyone recently purchased a 2016 Mazda CX9 and got the 10 year extended warranty, let me know how much you pay (what trim did you get) and how much is your deductible? Also did you purchase the Rockledge alarm? If so, how much? Thanks.

WOW? A 10 yr warranty? What company is selling the warranty?

The standard Mazda warranty was enough for me, I just paid extra for the 3yr 36k maintenance contract.

$0 deductible, and they take care of all the servicing and problems for 3yr 36k miles, and it was rolled into the lease payment.

Unless it was dirt cheap, like $500, I'd never get that. No one actually does it, but you are better putting that money away in some type of investment and holding onto it for a "rainy day" just in case. At 10 years, many many things that go are from "normal wear and tear" and are probably not covered anyway. These companies are like the casinos--the house always wins.

I purchased my '13 as a CPO which has a much longer warranty, but it only covers major drivetrain catastrophe. Window mechanism broke, not covered. TSB to fix Bluetooth, not covered. Rear defroster kills the radio signal, not covered. Car drives, shifts, stops though...so there's that.

I've paid for extended warranties in the past and every time just broken even. Won't bother again unless it's a bumper to bumper sort of deal.

There was a TSB for my old Honda Odyssey that fixed and issue where the on-wheel radio volume controls would sometimes not work, sometimes do the opposite of what they should (volume). I showed them the TSB and they said that that was an "adjustment", not a fix, so it wasn't covered. Really?! (bang)

First of all, not all TSBs are recalls, just to be clear.

This particular TSB is covered under manufacturer warranty, but I was over 36k at that point and the CPO warranty did not cover it. I tried, and the guys at my dealership know me well. They got my VVT issue covered on my old Mazdaspeed6 out of warranty but they couldn't plead my case to corporate on this one. I'm not even sure the new module fixes anything anyway.

One needs to understand that none of these products are actually a warranty, extended or otherwise. They are prepaid repair contracts. Note than none of the paperwork uses the word "warranty." Warranty law offers much more protection to the consumer than contract law. The contracts cover what they say they'll cover in the fine print if the buyer follows the requirements stated in the fine print. That's if they pay off at all. The 3rd party extended repair contract outfits like ASAP (catchy initials) offer less protection than the extended contracts from the car makers. If the outfit goes bust, the buyer is left with nothing. These are priced so the salesman (usually commission-only "finance manager") gets a commission, the dealership gets a profit margin, the underwriter gets a profit, and there might be something left over to pay claims.

If one really wants one of these peace-of-mind-insurance contracts, check on line for the lowest price from a dealership offering the manufacturer plan. This really is a form of insurance. Most buyers will lose money. A very few buyers will get back more than the cost of the plan due to a rare expensive repair.

Keep one thing in mind, these companies are out to make money. So if you buy a package, don't expect yourself to come out ahead. Your odds are worse than going to Vegas.

I have cancelled my extended warranty after knowing that I was charged way more and also the ASAP company has poor reviews. Thanks guys!

HondaCare has a 120,000 mile, 8 year warranty for $1100. Its refundable or transferrable if you sell/trade.
I found a dealer online for it and it beat the 3rd party offer I got at the dealership by over $600!
I did not even try to get my dealer to match as the service dept. doesn't know/care where I bought it.
Excellent reviews for it too.

Does HondaCare accept Mazda cars too?

No and I don't know if Mazda has anything this good but folks interested should avoid ANY 3rd party warranties, IMO.

Mazda has an extended warranty that goes up to 9 yrs. I believe it is called mazda extended confidence. I don't know how much it is but see if you can find a dealer that might sell it online.
