Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone is using the iDatalink meastro with their CX-5. I am putting in a Pioneer 4200NEX (2015 CX-5 Sport 6spMT) and was looking at this option for steering wheel controls as well as having OBD info available. It's about 100 bucks more then the standard steering wheel interface and I was wondering if it's worth it...

Thanks!

I just bought both for my 2015 touring, but have not yet installed it... The MaestroRR does need to be flashed in order to work with the CX-5... I think it's worth it just for the gauges... hoping it will do the lights as well, but not certain.... Maestro Tech support is awesome!

Well, I went with the iDatalink and I'm glad I did. It was only a little more expensive then the standard steering wheel control module. It does all kinds of things but the big advantages are being able to assign two functions to the steering wheel buttons (short or long push) and of course to see all kinds of "gauges." I know it's trivia, but I like having access to the actual coolant temperature rather then just a little blue light. Of course I'm a pilot for a living and a nerd for a hobby so staring at gauges is something I like to do. It may not be for everyone...

BTW, the Pioneer 4200NEX is very good. Big improvement in sound quality, Carplay and Android Auto, HDMI in (so you can screen cast from your phone) and of course a backup camera (which my Sport did not have). Highly recommended...

Thanks for the input. Do you have a brief rundown of what information the iDatalink displays with the CX5? I'm thinking of going that route too. Hoping to pick up a DDX9903S. Thanks!

Check on the Maestro site to ensure what functions that the head unit will support.
I had purchased the 4100 NEX initially, but it didn't support all of the functions that the 4200 supports...
I cannot wait to get this installed so that I can see everything that it does...

UPDATE:

Here are images of Mine with the Maestro installed...

Note, Head unit replaced, the sound quality is exponentially better, Speakers have not been changed yet, Amps not yet installed... Note#2 working with Maestro to get the "Voice/Siri" button working correctly, it turns out that you cannot map the 2nd button mapping on the voice button on Pioneer head units (Per Idatalink)... The Maestro system also allows programming of secondary functions on each button....

Would this be in place of PAC RP4-MZ11 and what else would I need to install this on a 2015 with Bose? I would like to have access to the OBD adn it is not much more than the other steering harnesses. I am going to install a 8200 Nex with best buy but just ordered all the equipement off Amazon much cheaper than crutchfield or BB.

where did you guys get your maestro's from? what harness adapters did you use as well?
did you do the 6v step down to make the backup cam work?

Bought my Maestro from Amazon after calling iDatalink directly and speaking with them to determine that it worked for MAZDA CX-5 as Crutchfield told me that it did NOT.
The Maestro RR simply needs a flash update to Mazda software.
I purchased the Metra harnesses and 6v step down from Amazon, and also received them from Sonic Electronix with my stereo.
Received the Metra mounting kit from Sonic Electronix.

very nice, thank you sir, any issues updating the firmware? i thought i saw somewhere that you needed a special cable to load the firmware up to the maestro?

Comes with the USB cable, I did it on my PC, you need to remember to go to the correct idatalink site to do the firmware update... The folks there are great to deal with I worked with a young lady named Dara who walked me through the process. Give them a call...

Will all these parts work on a 2016 CX-5? I have a 2016 Touring and I wanted to upgrade to the Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX but wanted to retain as much of my factory options as possible (steering wheel controls, OEM backup camera, lock/light settings).

Maestro SWI connections

I'm looking to install a new Kenwood unit using the Maestro RR into my 2015 CX-5 Touring. Has anyone found a nice clean way to install the following connections:

1. Reverse (someone in another thread showed a photo of a pin connection on the main factor connector which I'll have to check out)
2. Parking Brake Sensor
3. SWI Circuit 1
4. SWI Circuit 2
5. SWI Ground

Looking at what iDatalink gave me for the Maestro I'm a little confused As what they show and what the Metra connector I bought shows don't quite line up.

Anyone have a nice wiring diagram they can share?
