Towing Question(s)

Looking right now
We are looking to tow a less than 3k lb camper (13' scamp) with electric brakes.
We have been looking at a 2014 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring V6 AWD.
It has a hitch installed, and I know I need the 7 pin connector and the brake controller, but I don't know what else I need.
Do I need a transmission cooler or other cooling or something else?

What comes with the Towing Prep Package?

Thanks,
Rogue

You're good except wiring and comtroller. Just remember you're towing as much weight as your vehicle and actually could go over the vehicle rating fairly easy depending on number of occupants and gear/fresh water loaded up.

Have fun and let us know how it tows. I've only towed my old pontoon (now sold) a couple of times for a total of maybe 40 miles and it did ok, but there wasn't any highway speeds.

Not sure about the 2014 towing package but for the 2012s there was a separate towing package that includes a larger radiator. It was not standard on the GTs. My 2012 is a FWD version with the towing package. Search these forums and do your homework before buying a 1st generation AWD.
