...I bought my 2012 Mazda 5 used. It is a "base" model with zero bells and whistles other than the auto trans. In about a year, the plan is for my daughter to inherit the 5 as her first car <gulp>. One of the things I've noticed is that the doors do not lock automatically, nor do they unlock when you pull the inside handle on the front doors. It has been years and years since I've seen a vehicle that doesn't have this basic functionality.
So, my question is whether any of the trim levels have this feature(s), and if so, how hard would it be to retrofit it to my 5? At minimum, I'd like the front doors to unlock when I pull the handle even if I have to lock them manually. Ideally, I could have it do both (lock automatically when first driven, unlock when the handle is pulled).
I'm already planning a new sound system, but that will be another thread.
