After 2 years, all 4 alloy wheels were showing signs of corrosion. The front more than the rears. The corrosion had started on the drum and the back and edges of the spokes.

The wheels (and rest of the car) are cleaned regularly with ph neutral bodywork shampoo only. I rarely drive on salty roads and if I do, hose the car down afterwards.

Hence I thought it was poor that the wheels started to corrode on my car with 8K miles.

All were refurbished under warranty, acid dipped, shot blasted, powder coated, lacquered and oven baked. Mazda UK said the wheels are only lacquered on the front face and not the drum or the rear face. Obviously that is why they corrode!

I had to push Mazda UK to get a proper job done as they wanted to spot repair the corrosion with some non-durable smart repair.

I'd be interested to hear from other owners that have experienced similar issues.

Just curious. You said that the fronts were worse than the rears. Do you not rotate your wheels?
