Fuel Economy

i used to get 24.5 mpg consistently (60/40 city/highway) when i was DDing the CX-5. couple things have happened and now ive been seeing an average of 23.7 with my lead footed fiancee dd'ing the CX-5. and thats with the AWD, larger all terrains tires and a roof rack in the hills of Pittsburgh. Im satisfied with that kind of average combined mileage

Averaging 27.2 now. If I get back to all city driving it drops to 26 give or take.

AC tends to be on setting 2, sometimes 3. And I have a lead foot for sure. I like "punching it".

~28 70/30 highway minimal traffic not trying, but don't like to use AC when its not hot as balls.

27.58 MPG measured at the pump over 10,267 miles. About 40/60 city/highway. I've got a lead foot off the line but use ACC once I reach speed limit. Use AC lots too.

Just about 4,700 miles averaging 27.5 mpg. Only about 1 mpg difference between "errand" and highway driving.

OK, one thing I have never complained about, is fuel mileage on our CX5. Now have 54,000 kms. I don't really keep track of this anymore, but since we were doing a big road trip, I figured it would be interesting to see.
Just completed a 3400 km trip. To break that up, 2700kms was hwy and 700 kms of running around town doing errands.
FWIW, the computer dash readout, I found is almost identical to the old fashion math method. (0.1 diff)

AC on 70% of the time. Most of the time use cruise, even though the mountains. Speeds were set anywhere between 95 - 120 kph. And I use regular 87 fuel.

Best hwy mileage on an 800 km stretch..........6.4L/100.....44mpg (CAN).......36.6 (US)

Overall the whole trip 3400 kms (2110 miles)......7.25L/100.....39mpg (CAN)......32.5 (US)

The last leg of the trip we really didn't want to stop for fuel. Travelled 700 kms to pull into the driveway, and the fuel light came on. When the light comes on, we usually still have an hour of highway driving left over.

I don't know if this is normal or not but I'm on 3000 miles with my 2017 AWD CX-5 and I'm averaging at 20mpg :/ My work is 15 mins away from me and I live in the suburbs so I'm driving local roads majority of the time. My speed ranges from 30-55mph.

Yes, that seems low. Is there a lot of going from 35 to 55 and back?

32 mph is peak mpg for cx5. 46 is really good as well. Noticed that even if you push decent you get great mpg. My commute is similar Morning I hit 32+ , coming home 27.

Is that number measured for a whole tank at the pump or is that what you're seeing on your mileage application screen in the center of the dash or is that what you're seeing on the info on the instrument cluster?

2 hour road Trip today, 70-80 all the way: 28mpg. I'm good with that.

By "local roads" does that mean a lot of stop and go? I almost never get on the highway and my mileage is not the greatest (14L/100km average) short commute each morning dropping the wife at work and than to my work is about 15-20 minutes each way with plenty of stop lights. It is an improvement over my 2011 Tiguan and no more premium gas prices cost per tank with the Tiguan was nearly $100 per fill now $50-60 (CDN).

2016.5 CX5 Touring - early morning commute so had the headlights on - drove for 18 miles and the trip mpg was ....

35.2

Wow - my tires had regular 34 psi not even 37 that I put. I had to drive upto 45 mph as soon as i start so the engine was cold. With headlights on - makes me wonder what mpg gains i would see in summer disabling the DRL or using an LED based ones that come near the fog lights.
35.2 - told my friend who drives a Toyota 4Runner and he could not believe it. Superb mpg for real world daily driving. Stunning - you would be in 2020 and still can't beat this number. Whats even more amazing is the new 18 SV trim that will have the 2.0L which would have 31 or so combined numbers with hub caps - cheap starting msrp.

Why would your headlight status mean anything?

Headlight > Alternator load > more fuel consumption.
I am thinking on average about 40-50 Amps being drawn which with 14 volts is 600 or so watts. When you are talking about personal mpg records - even the Jimmy Johns bill in the glove box that you forgot to trash counts.

How about the Mcdonalds wrappers in the back! :D

28.1 MPG from Denver to Santa Fe until about the Colorado border. New Mexico has a lot more hills and curves, MPG dropped. 75-80MPH, closer to 80.

I thought 35 was a ceiling for me. Personal best being 35.7

NOPE!
37.1 this morning. Cold morning and light traffic due to holidays - 30 min drive with stops 45 mph roads and few highway miles hitting 70. Car is bone stock, not even replaced the 60W DRL which eats about .2 mpg per tank. But man this peak mpg is superb. 5 Yo drivetrain - still the best in class.

FWD. FWD << AWD on highway. In city or mixed FWD mpg is too good, never seen what one can accomplish with AWD. Guessing mid 30s.

2015 - On level road with air on @70 mph I get 30/31. My overall average for 39,531 miles is 28.4 (pump), and 28.6 (dash).
