Hey all,

Haven't posted in a while. But I was wondering, is it possible to deprogram a smart key? I came to realize, the other day, that my spare smart key card thing was out of battery. I went to replace the battery, but nothing happened when I hit the button.

Thanks in advance

Well it looks like the answer is no. I thought my spare smart key was deprogrammed because switching the battery didn't do anything to unlock my doors, but it turns out that the pins connecting the circuit board to the battery had a microcrack preventing the remote from functioning with a replacement battery. Unfortunately, I had to crack open the remote. But it beats having to pay a couple hundred dollars to buy a new key card and have it programmed.
