Anybody know what the AWD is like in a JDM Sport20?

Basically, I'm gonna be looking into importing a Sport20 early next year (really hard to say no to a Protege with less than 100,000km for less than 2 grand), and I was wondering if anybody here has experience with them, and more specifically what the AWD system is like. I can't find anything that tells me if it's more like a Subaru, or if it's just the slip 'n grip AWD that is in most crossovers nowadays. Even more imaginary bonus points if anybody knows if the rear suspension is radically different or if it uses the same parts.
