P0090 - Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Control Circuit ?

So, I am getting a P0090 and only a P0090. No other codes.

From research it looks like it could be one or more of the following.. https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/188773/mil+on,+dtc+P0090,+whats+that
1) PRC solenoid valve malfunction
2) Connector or terminal malfunction
3) Short to ground in wiring between PRC solenoid valve terminal B and PCM terminal 95
4) Open circuit in wiring between main relay terminal D and PRC solenoid valve terminal A
5) Open circuit in wiring between PRC solenoid valve terminal B and PCM terminal 95
6) Short to power circuit between PRC solenoid valve terminal B and PCM terminal 95
7) PCM malfunction

All my wiring looks good. So, I don't think it is wiring. That leaves #1 and #7.

So, what is the PRC Solenoid valve? Is it this part?

Should I be replacing #3 ? or which one?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I just got the same code so I will be buying the same (#3 Solenoid) as listed above. But I also have code P2009 VTCS (intake manifold) which would be #2 listed on picture above. So is this same part as #3 solenoid?? They kind of look the same, can anyone re direct me to another Thread or which part number I need for #2 solenoid?? Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure the solenoids are different but they may be interchangeable (I don't know)

The VTCS and the VICS solenoids are the same.

The white one is the solenoid that controls the secondary intake shutter valve. It's also called an EGR vacuum solenoid. The green one is the exact same solenoid, but it controls something else. Same part tho, if you're in the junkyard searching around either one will work.

If you want a new one, they're semi cheap and you can replace it yourself in 5 min with no tools.

Sorry not sure how to insert the original post with the pic :(

They may operate the same but the connectors maybe different as well as the way they mount.

I'm trying to buy both VTCS solenoid valve and the VICS solenoid valve but I can't find them at my local auto parts store. Both Auto Zone and O'Reilly only have the Dorman Vacuum Switching Valve. Any idea where I can buy them??

If you are throwing the P0090 code, then you need the PRC solenoid valve.

VICS, VTCS, FPR, EGR should all be the same, the vacuum lines are just hooked up differently. I've replaced 3 of them so far. And have two or three spares from parts cars left. The purge solenoid is that one that's different, as it is pulse width modulated rather than just opened and closed

My check engine light already went away on its own, but I figured I will still buy the PRC solenoid valve and replace it first since it displayed both P0090 and P2009 codes when the check engine light came on. I will update if check engine light comes up again after replacing the PRC solenoid valve.

PRC solenoid valve = Vacuum Switching Valve

Here is the part I found at my local auto parts store

I think I will just order the EGR Valve Control Solenoid from the site you listed. I might as well replace those 2 also. This car will be my daily commute and will drive about 75 miles a day. I need it to be in top shape. Any other suggestions on things that I should replace would be greatly appreciated. I will update my profile with all things I've fixed or replaced on my car.

Remember it could be some sort of wiring issue/bad connection.
They way both solenoids failed at the same time then both fixed themselves simultaneously has me suspicious.
One code could have caused the other in some way though, depending on the mood of our ECU ??? (which is still running Windows 95)

Here's the big list of things to consider for basic maintenance...
