Wife driving home gets CEL, car starts shift abnormally.
Take it to parts house to have them pull code.
P0753 shift-solenoid A Electrical
http://www.obd-codes.com/

"P0753 means your powertrain computer detects a continuous open, short to ground or short to power in the circuit to your transmission's 1-2 shift solenoid. When the code is active, your transmission runs in a fail safe/limp home mode that only lets certain gear ratios function in the transmission.

The solenoid in your application looks like this (pic isn't the same)

(wtf?).jpg and it is located sometimes on the side of the transmission, but my guess is from the looks of it, it might be found inside the transmission, only accessible with the oil pan removed. (inside with the oil pan removed)
The problem might be the solenoid itself, or the wiring going to the solenoid from the computer that controls the transmission, or the computer itself."

At this point I decided to change the solenoids.

seems easy enough.

The solenoids I bought from Napa for $36 each. Part #1-6711
The oil filter is Part #1-8598
I had to buy an 8mm hex wrench for the drain plug too.

That was yesterday. Today, the CEL is back and I'm here reading up about TCM's.

I don't want to trade this car off, but if I can't fix this, I have no choice. My Mrs. needs her chariot.
