2016 Grand Touring LED upgrade

Nice! post some pictures (before and after) when done.

I still need to change my rear plates lights. standard factory bulb are very yellow. I already have the leds but I'm unable to remove the plastic cap (mad)

The license plate light covers still cooperating with you cubanomx?

I don't make any extra attempt just because I have fear to broke something.

Perhaps I can go to a audio shop and get someone to do it for me....

I guess that's the easiest way to go. Rather pay somebody to do it than you breaking it in the end.

I installed the LED vanity mirror lights tonight and MAN is it bright!! I had to turn the light to face one side as it was too bright. I really like the nice white light versus the yellow light and the install only took a couple of minutes for both sides.

Has anyone tried these?

I'd love to upgrade the rear signals to LED, but I'm not crazy about poking through wire insulation already on a brand new car. Reviews are pretty good, but a little mixed. Seems like the perceived brightness probably depends a lot on the lens design of the car. I suspect that the '16 CX9 would work pretty well because it seems pretty focused, but I definitely don't know for sure. Any firsthand experience?

I ended up ordering these:

Not cheap but it's the nicest looking kit I've seen by far. I'll post some pics when I receive and install them.

Just installed the VLEDs V3 Triton in my rear turn signals. I can't say enough good things based on my impressions so far. The free shipping was ridiculously fast and the entire kit just looks high quality. It made me really happy that I spent the extra money. It was an easy, clean install and they even threw in the dielectric grease and heat shrink tubing to waterproof the old light socket connection. It took a little bit of trial and error to figure out the right combination of hardware to fit the socket, but I ended up just using two of the short screws, spaced 180 degrees apart, and the thicker of the small-diameter gaskets and the fit is really solid. One took a little extra force to compress the gasket to get the screws to catch, but they both feel secure.

They are insanely bright. My first reaction was actually "are these TOO bright?".

Here's a video comparing the LED with the factory bulb: https://youtu.be/U39P70rhJh8

I highly recommend this kit if you're going to upgrade your rear turn signals.

Insanely bright like what I had installed on mine months ago except for the load resistors that I needed to add. That's good news for people that are looking to upgrade because of tons of choices in the market.

Actually I needed the load resistors too. They're nicely integrated with the kit. Or I assume I needed them, I didn't actually try without them now that I think of it. But people earlier in the thread mentioned getting hyperflashed without them.

Yes. Resistors need it. I share a video where you see hyper flash.

Got to mount the 2 load resistors days ago using 3M body molding adhesive and without drilling holes in the body and yes, it worked well. I Checked the whole set up today and if the hot load resistor had affected it but it didn't.

for those that taped the resistors rather than drilling, how's that working for you guys?

I'm looking to install LED turn signals as well and I'd hate to have to drill holes on my new car

I agree. So far it's OK. I ordered 3M mounting tape from VLEDs for the "controller", but their resistor kit came with a high temp tape. I didn't notice this until after I did the first resistor. I emailed them and they told me I should go ahead and pull it out and replace it with the high temp tape, so I did. It seems stable, but only time will tell.

Hey, new to this forum, but just picked up my 2016 GT. I already swapped out the license plate led's and have ordered the Philips reverse bulbs. Any pointers or photos of the reverse light install? And how about the interior vanity mirror bulbs/install? I'm sure it's pretty straight forward (I changed every bulb on my last car to led's) but would appreciate any info. Thanks! I'll post photos once it's all complete

Hello guys, I want to change my license plate and reverse lights. Before I order them from Amazon, can someone please confirm that these are preferred ones to get?

Yes, those look right. Philips makes the bulb for the license plate too though, if you want to stick with the same manufacturer:
