Hi, I'll keep it brief but I could really use some suggestions as I am at my wits end on what to do. I've been to the mechanic (non Mazda) over four times now for a recurring P0456 CEL. I have a 2008 Mazdaspeed3 Sport complete stock at 62k miles.
The mechanic has -
1. replaced gas cap with brand new one
2. cleaned purge valve (but not replaced)
3. smoke tested my car and replaced a carbon filter which actually requires to you to replace the entire hose/pipe it's attached to. It's a plastic container that contains the filter attached to the pipe. for some reason the diagram doesn't have a part name.
The third repair was most recent and cost me a grip. The CEL came back a day and a half later in the morning. I've been to the mechanic four times now and it's driving me nuts. What else can I do?
Do you think I should take it to the dealer instead and have them swap out the purge valve solenoid or just do a vacuum test on it? Could it be a problem anywhere else?
