we were getting the typical spongy brake and hissing noise issues, I diagnosed it as a faulty booster. I didn't think to take it to the dealer, as I thought I had read that the warranty extension only went up to 2011...
anyway,
it's a big job. the wipers have to come off, then the cowl panel, wiper motor, air intake, battery all are in the way. you have to disconnect the brake lines from the master cylinder to get it out of the way, AND loosen a bracket on the firewall to move the heater pipes out of the way... then after you put it all back together you need to bleed the brakes, since the lines were removed.
what a PITA.
I replaced it with a lifetime warranty rebuilt from Advance Auto; with the 30% online code (TRT30) it cost about $110.
now that I know about the extended warranty, I'm going to call Mazda to see what they have to say.
