Hi,

I tested my brake fluid on my 14 '3 and the copper level is above 60 PPM with only 38k on the odo.
I wanted to do a flush with my next pad change which I will do doing myself.

My question is do I need an scan tool to purge ABS for bleeding?
I have only worked on Hondas and Toyotas in past and this was not needed so far ( 2010 or older).

Thank you,

Typically, a scan tool is needed if your vehicle is equipped with "active handling" in which braking can be applied to individual corners to keep the vehicle under control during sudden accident avoidance or loss of traction for other reasons. If your car doesn't have this feature, a scanner/controller is not necessary. However, I do not recommend the pedal bleeding method unless you restrict the pedal travel to that which is common to normal braking. Otherwise, you could damage the master cylinder piston seal by allowing the piston to extend past it's wear line.
