I've been having transmission issues, namely when it's been driven from neutral to first gear it's a fight to get in, and from neutral to reverse it grinds. Not sure of that's a clutch, master cylinder problem, throwout bearing, or the entire transmission itself. I've been looking up used manuals for the 2003 P5 and i've come across transmission with and without a speed sensor, which one does the 03 p5 have?

By your symptoms it sounds more like a clutch issue, especially if it shifts fine while underway.

If you have ABS, there is no speed sensor in the transmission. If you don't have ABS, there is a speed sensor in the transmission.

Yes I do have ABS. Ok thanks that narrows it down!

Being that you have ABS, I don't see why you couldn't take a non-ABS trans and just leave the VSS unplugged.

But, like I mentioned earlier, you have textbook symptoms of a hydraulic clutch problem.
