Parking brake suddenly tight

My parking brake suddenly engages after pulling it up only 1 or 2 clicks. Previously it was about 5 clicks.
Does anyone know what could have caused this? It has done this before and the dealership corrected it, but I would like to know if I can correct this myself.

Thanks for any help!

There is a little access panel behind the hand brake. Carefully open it. I think I used a 10 mm deep socket to adjust it with an extension. I did not use a ratchet, just my fingers with the brake off. It took a few tries to get it where I liked it when set.

Thanks for the reply, but adjusting the brake is not the cause or solution as the parking brake suddenly became a lot tighter. And this weekend it suddenly was back to "normal"....
It seems like the cable sometimes hooks behind something, making it a lot tighter.

You may have a defective cable or a stuck caliper.
Try lubricating the cable from the parking mechanism with some penetrating oil, it should work itself a little bit up.
But you may need to replace the cable if the rust got a better of it.
Stuck calipers and I don't know any better way then replacing one with a remanufactured unit.
