2011 Mazda 3i Bose Bluetooth issue

I have had a weird issue with my bluetooth since I have gotten my car. It will at random it could be 5 mins in between or 15 minutes but it always happens. What it does is it likes hesitates or stutters. It doesnt seem like the music pauses but it just skips a second. Happened with my last 2 phones and i tried it with my wifes phone, same thing happens. I read somewhere that the software version of the headunit and bluetooth module can be updated. I cant seem to figure out how to find out on my headunit how to find the software version. Anyone know how to do this on my particular model? I called the Mazda dealer near here and they want to check it into service. That way they get a minimum charge just to look. And I was told if it needed a flash it would be $115 to flash it. What a crock.
