in case your interested ... (video playback on infotainment)

Well this is pretty sweet. However, no wifi access in my CX5. Guessing this is a UK only thing. I believe I have read activating wifi is possible on US models, but that does require hacking. As far as I know. I always wondered why this vehicle has wifi. Unfortunately I can't tap into any of these cool features.

Now I'm kind of understand the idea of why Mazda designed a front-center heavy, all midrange-speaker setup, movie-watching friendly Bose Centerpoint surround sound system on the CX-5 - you can indeed watch movies without hacking! (boom08)

android only at this time ? :(

@jhu8
various tweaks are available, including activating wifi -not difficult, and completely reversible if it doesn't work

Nice, I've followed your work on the infotainment system on the Mazda 3 Revolution website, good stuff. :D

Yes, its pretty neat, nice thing to entertain the kids during long drives or heavy traffic :) Im from asia btw, and all units we get here have wifi enabled. local regulations might be the reason why its disabled in NA.

Cool. Now just waiting for an Android navigation hack.....or until the OEM cards can go down in price a bit more.

Rumors is that next version of our infotainment system is to include Android auto. I'm praying! Google maps would be awesome.

I played with this. It's solid and good but only for Android. I have iPhones. But: the way I use it is got an used S3 for $30 thru CL, activated tethering on my iPhone, had S3 connect to it. Enabled tethering on S3 into which had my Mazda connect and then used it.

Couple of issues: to enable WiFi in CX5 requires a hack via USB. But the CX5 does not retain connections. 50% time it doesn't find S3 network. Every time you start car you will have to re enable WiFi. Real pain. Dropped it.

It will NOT work on North American CX5s since they don't have WiFi access
