Is length of time an important factor between oil changes

Hey all,

I have a '02 P% 5 speed with 215,000KM on it. Doesn't seem to burn any oil. My question is what should my oil change interval be? I use 5w-30 castrol edge with syntec. It doesn't get alot of driving, so in 6 months since my last change, it's only been 5000KM.

Should I change it after 6 months regardless? Doesn't seem like I should?

Any thoughts on what my interval should be?

Thanks!

oh, I am in Eastern Canada. So fairly warm summers and cold winters (but not -40 or anything)

Yeah, especially if a lot of that is stop and go, or short trips where the oil may not get all the way up to operating temp. That's harder on your oil than 10k of highway miles.

There is more info than you could read in a year about oil changes on the Bob is the oil guy forums.

The cycles of condensation overnight puts moisture in the oil...

That is why you need to do it at least once a year (if driven less than the 7.5K miles interval).
