apparently in an australian owners manual the specs are:
5w40
10w30
10w40
10w50
0w20/30
they don't even make mention of 5w30 oil! I think that the weight which should be used must be proportional to what sort of climate you live in.
for very sub 20c starting/ parking outdoor in the winter - 0w30
normal/mild weather climate 5w30/40 is fine
for very hot climate, aggressive driving you're totally free to go with a 10w30 or 40. it's just more protection and the bearing clearances will not be phased by this thicker oil.
for our engines which fuel shear the s*** out of our engine oil, I recommend shell rotella 5w40. it's a good choice for DI motors.
