IMPORTANT ---> Back pads for Touring and Grand Touring <---- Pads are different....

Hello all.

Lesson learned.

2009 Grand Touring

Been going round and round with back brake pads dragging, making noise while driving, hot rotors - ON THE BACK AXLE.

Lo and behold, parts suppliers sell the same pads for front and back. WRONG.

Back pads have a clamp assembly. DO NOT put clampless pads on the car and DO NOT add the clamp kit.

Advanced Auto Part Number = GMKD973

Wagner Part Number = ZD973A

Wagner actually makes the better product.

New pads, no noise, no moaning as I back up when the pads are cold, no metal on metal noises when I hit bumps.

Speaking solely for myself - you kinda lost credibility when you started bitching about moaning noise as you back up.

You are aware that cast iron brake rotors are given to rust, right?

LOL. I know that.
Just trying to pass on something I experienced.
I'm a Technology guy too. Not a car head...
Have a good one.

The Wagner product you have listed http://www.carid.com/wagner/quickstop-ceramic-rear-brake-pads-mpn-zd973a.html is the OE design for the 2004-2005 Mazda 3. Mazda quickly realized that the clips integrated into the piston side pad would rust away to nothing in the rust belt and moved to this design after 2005 https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)

Outside of the rust belt the Wagner's may be fine but for Cleveland they will most likely be rattling after one winter. And for anyone reading this that is about to do this, the new design pad with the spring on top goes on the piston side of the caliper.
