TomTom Mazda NB1 vs. NB1 LIVE

:
18 CX-5
Finally decided to pay TomTom my long overdue ransom in order to cure the badly stale map in my CX5. Was asked to pick my device but I'm not sure if it should be NB1 or NB1 LIVE. 2 questions:

#1 Is it true that the TomTom device on every CX5 is an NB1 and that "NB1 LIVE" simply refers to the LIVE version of map being purchased (that would "LIVE enable" the navigator)?

#2 In any case I don't think I have access to the LIVE services (as according to TomTom new Mazda car owners are only entitled to 3 months of free LIVE services). Yet the navigator has always been able to alternative routes due to traffic condition, or alert me on speed camera locations. How come?

Help please... thx

In USA It's the NB1.

The Live version is only for Europe, where the navigation unit itself has a cellular radio with SIM card to get traffic and other "Live" data.

In USA, it gets traffic info free from FM radio traffic service.

Just download Tom Tom Home and you get free map update for like 6 months or something like that when you first sign up/in.

Thanks nXt! Glad I asked. Greedy me was tempted to pick NB1 LIVE and almost paid "ransom" to the wrong guy, as it costs the same as NB1, both with their annual subscription topped up with a 6 months bonus. Thanks also for explaining why I've been getting those traffic & speed cams data for free.
