I recently bought from etrailer.com a class III Curt Trailer hitch and wiring kit, and installed them myself. Both were easy-peasy to install using the included instructions and especially the videos on the etrailer website.
etrailer lists this hitch for the 2016 CX5 - part number C13127. However they don't list any wiring kit for 2016. Their recommendation was to use the universal wiring kit that splices into your existing wiring instead of the simple plug and play T connectors.
I bought the 2015 "Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector" (part C56011) and am happy to report it works fine with my 2016 Touring.
I suspect it will also work with the other 2016 trim lines that don't have LED tail and signal lights. I have no idea if this will work with the LED option, if Mazda used the same connectors or not or even if the voltage level is the same.
