I updated my TomTom NB1 yesterday and the update involved a very large Western Europe map download. I'm not on the fastest connection (my broadband download speed is typically around 6 or 7 meg) and the download took over an hour.
When the update was applied to my SD card I had a couple of failures. The problem seemed to relate to one particular dat file that could not be deleted and as a result the update failed. I resorted to manually deleting the problem file and thereafter the update seemed to go ahead. However in the process the update appeared to disable access to the Map Share facility and deleted my Home location.
The former can be resolved by simply going to the NB1 main menu and clicking on the relevant button, however you'll have to reset your Home location when you put the SD card back in the car.
