How do Mazda incentives work?

Can someone explain how these rebates or incentives apply? Let's say the car's MSRP is $32,500 and Mazda offers a $500 incentive. Does that mean the MSRP drops to $32,000? I don't do anything with MSRP when deciding what I want to pay for a vehicle. It's Invoice plus a couple hundred. I was made an offer yesterday for $300 over invoice. IF there was a rebate of $500 would I be getting the car for $200 under invoice or does it come off the top.. Thanks!

It comes off the final negotiated price. IMO, you should be at or closer to invoice before the incentive is applied!

The incentives are paid by Mazda corp, not the dealer.
For example, when we bought our last vehicle the negotiating dealer we haggled with eventually came out with all prices (new and trade-in) we could agree on. Then, the finance guy had reduced the price once we told him we are eligible for loyalty incentive and showed him proof.
It is your responsibility to make sure you mention all these incentives, because the dealer might forget as that money never leaves their pocket.
