TomTom SD card not working

:
2014 CX-5 GT AWD
Updated my TomTom SD card on Sunday but for some reason now after I put it back into the slot it is not being recognized and won't load, all I see is image to insert card on the screen although the card is inserted. Looks like a trip to dealer for them to troubr shoot it.

Before you take it to the dealer one thing that you can try is to put the card in your computer and completely format it. Once that's done put it back in your car with the car turned off and then turn on the car with the SD card in there and wait for a minute or two. Putting the formatted card into your CX-5 will let it put a file on there that is recognized by TomTom Home, so once that's done you can put it back in your computer and re-install all your maps and stuff.

This has worked for me before and could save you a trip to the dealer.

me too, and re-seat the card a few times helps. the connecting point get oxidized. I use an pencil eraser on them every 6 mos.

I'd see if computer still recognizes card and then put back in CX. I wonder if there is some hidden file on SD card that can get some "soft" corruption of sorts on it that makes the NB1 puke at times. I've never had this happen on mine but have see a few threads now on this.

Now I am totally confused now, so Mazda replace the card it worked fine got home updated the card from my TomTom home inserted the card and back to the same problem of card not read. Well back to Mazda I go.

And I tried reformatting and reinstalling with the new card and nothing I think I might have a bad file somewhere now the problem of seeing which one it is. Might just start off with just this the maps and start from scratch again with my addons

Saga continues and I think I fixed it. Went back to Mazda so they ordered a new card reader module because the card was dead again but I told them it does not make sense for the reader to be bad as you see it trying to load the maps and fail and my laptop reads the card also. So I left the stealership ....oops sorry dealership went home re formatted the card and one by one added the main components to the card and BAM card is working again proving my point that I downloaded a corrupted add on file from TomTom home. So now I have to decide if I should still have the stealership install that new module or not as it seems that was not the problem and leave it as is.

Unless you were right up against your warranty expiration I would probably hold off and give it a couple weeks at least.

A few weeks ago I had a similar problem. I had lost all my English speaking voices and my car icons. I calley TomTom and they did a brief troubleshooting, and quickly told me that it was a mazda issue , call the dealer. The mazda nav "specialist" told me that the head unit was probably the problem. I ask them to humor me and put one of the demo cars sd card in my unit, miraculously everything was fixed, and I kept the demo cars sd card. I went home and deleted everything TomTom from my computer. I then reinstalled tomtom home and updated everything. It all is working correctly now.
I also made an additional nav card by formatting a 8gb class 10 card on my computer (fat32). I then started my car without any card in the reader. When the Nav asks for a card, put it in and let the car format it, wait about a minute for it to finish. tomtom home will recognize the card as the NB1, i could now update all the nav info. I have been using the backup for about a week without a single hickup. I figured I would save the Mazda card for when I have another problem.

This is a common problem with this car after updating the card. Go to the dealer and get a new card.

This was the second SD card it did work but the moment I updated it to Tomtom home it fail. So far since the last reformatting of the card has been workings with no issues.

The Nav system refuses to take me anywhere in Farmington Hills, MI. If I enter an address that is in the 48331 zip code the screen locks up and I get a warning message that says the program quit unexpectedly. Then it will show the word TomTom until it shuts off completely. Has anyone else experienced this with other cities?
