Issue with door sensor

Anyone else had trouble with these? Driver's side was either not triggering or staying triggered(leaving door ajar, overhead light on). Would just twist it around a bit and it would start behaving. Did that tonight when it again left the door ajar light on and it came undone. Unscrewed it and managed to get the assembly out of there but didn't have any luck trying to fish the wire out. Luckily with it disconnected it seems to default to thinking the door is closed so the ajar light isn't lit up. Any suggestions for fishing the wire out of that hole when it's light out tomorrow? Was trying with one of those pen hook grabbers.

Do need to fix this as wife has a habit of leaving lights on without the reminder chime.

Pull up your plastic "kick plate" or whatever you call it in the door jam.

There's some big holes under it to give you access.

Pulled up the kick plate but that didn't help. Think to get at it from behind it would have to be behind the pillar plastics with the seat belt.

Did manage to snag it in the daylight though. What had happened was the metal bracket for the assembly had gotten bent and the spring got free and pushed the connector off. The inner plastic rod must have gotten misaligned and then the force of closing the door bent the bracket. Straightened it out and put it back together and it's working fine again.

OK... I should have che checked my photos...

The access was from behind the seatbelt mechanism....

Or the rust holes...
