Rear Bumper falling off due to rust

The rear driver side bumper is coming off, right at the fender and the quarter panel. There is a little nub where the bumper should fit back into place, but its just kinda hanging on right now. Any idea how to repair this? Is it possible to buy a new bumper or quarter panel?

Picture when my computer and phone want to respond.

They do have this available but you have to weld it in or glue or rivets and bondo.

Yeah the only way to do this right is to cut out the old metal and weld in new.

You can maybe get away with a few years doing fiberglass. But yours looks like it is missing a lot of metal. Google rust repair on youtube and you will see many ways to do this.

Here is what I did on my 93 protege. I had a retired body guy do the metal work for me, I'm not that good:)

This is one of those where if you have to ask, you're in way over your head. If you're ok with the results coming out so so, then you might be able to read/watch videos online and attempt it for the experience. Otherwise, if you're looking for it to look close to factory again, take it to a body shop.

Depends on the prices locally. Usually it isn't cheap and a lot of shops refuse this kind of work because they know it never ends well with rust, if they do it won't be cheap. Easily $500 I would say based on what I know locally.

go call a few body shops and go in and get an estimate. Tell them what you want and what you are wanting to spend. Ask them if they know anyone that does that kind of work. Most likely they will point you to a smaller shop or someone that does it on the side. You may have to ask 10 people or more to get this info. It can be done.

I did this on my 52 GMC truck it took a while to find someone to do the work. Most big companies just don't do rust repair anymore. Call around and call around more until you find someone that does it. And you will hear mostly that sorry we won't do that for less then 3 grand kinda stuff.

On my thread I attached I worked with a retired body guy and he did the work. I painted it. $300 cash.

i got you. sand it, prime it, paint it, rubber coat the back side, sticker bomb, drill holes, run zip ties
