5 speed manual shift knob

Hey everyone, im looking at some shifter knobs for my Protege5 just to make it feel a bit more custom. My question here today is, how do i remove the one already installed?

I do enjoy the leather shifter they have on there already, im looking at more like it, and some with color.

You just unscrew it.

To remove the little extension,..
Hairdryer or heat gun or propane if it gets all serious.

(if you want to,.. that makes an easy short shifter but you have to put threads on it)

I like the leather,.. Some other types get too hot and too cold.

I bought my P5 with an aftermarket all metal Momo shifter and regret it in the cold ND winters, which im guessing since youre in MN you get pretty cold there too.

Feels like i could get frostbite from it if i hold it too long, so id keep your leather one or get an aftermarket leather one haha.

x3 my weighty Hebi Bebi shift knob (in the 350Z) looks really cool - but is ice cold in winter!

I guess I am getting more practical in my old age
