I'm a new owner of a nice 2006 Mazda speed6 GT pkg. Has 96k on her and the last two recalls that needed to be serviced were the timing chain and VVT and those have expired. Now Mazda wants $1800 to do it. Any other ways to get the price down?. My grandfather and I are thinking about doing it on our own. Priced out all the parts from Tasca Ford ($500.00). I have no issue fixing it on my own, does anyone in the Atlanta area have the cam timing locking took I could rent or barrow???. Also any tips and pointer to get it done faster would be great.
P.s. should I take on Mazda Corp on getting reimbursed for parts?
