AWR engine mount inserts

Hey all,

Just got my AWR passenger and transmission inserts in the mail and am wondering how the hell you would get the passenger side inner insert on without tearing it or installing the engine support bracket afterwards...

I have been looking for instructions and help and I can't find anything except people saying to stretch it, or use lube, but I still find it pretty much impossible without tearing the inserts.

I thought the same thing when I installed my inserts back when I had them, it does go over that bracket fine though. Lube it up if you're worried.

Boil it in water and stretch it over.

Will give that a go, They have already started to tear in the center though, hopefully I can save them.

Do you guys think its alright to put this in a torn engine mount? Or do I have to go with a good engine mount?

thats what they are for. stick it in, ziptie it as prescriped, all is well =) the alternative is a $170 solid mount.. dont waste money on factory replacement.
the other three mounts take most of the load anyway.

Thats great news. I didn't know they were designed to fit the torn mounts haha.

How do you know that the other 3 take more of the hit than the passenger side? I would say that the rear takes the hardest beating, but the passenger side is definitely not at the bottom of the list, especially considering they tear so fast (or its just a poor design)

most of the engine movement is front and back with gear shifts and changes to rpm. but the other three mounts all bolt to the transmission where this one is the only one that mounts directly to the block. much more common for front and rear mounts to fail.

im pretty sure my trans and pass mounts on the msp were both torn on one of hte legs when i installed my awr kit but im pleased to report to you that 6 years later the inserts show no signs of wear. my front mount still looks brand new heh.

ill be pulling the front three out to exchange with my p5 which has 4 torn mounts. you can watch the shifter move in all four directions to follow the road with the p5 lol. ah well. 130k vs 308. bound to be some problems lol.

Wow great information here. I am just working on my Protege5. The passenger side mount is torn. So if I get these poly inserts that will work just fine? Do you guys have any links on where to buy these? I am new to this so just trying to figure it out. I am sure my 93 protege has the same problems...

Here is what I found so far.
Passenger and Driver side mount inserts. http://store.awrracing.com/engine-mount-inserts-protege-1999-2003/

What is this one for? http://store.awrracing.com/engine-mount-bushing-replacement-95-durometer/

How about the one for the rear mount?

Am I even looking at the right stuff here? Thanks fellas

The first one is what you want. It made a world of a difference in the torn mounts.

The second is for aftermarket engine mounts such as this one: http://store.awrracing.com/products/Engine-Mount-%2d-Protege-1999%2d2003-%2d-Rear.html
