The CX5 is pitifully short on small storage space compared to the CX7 it is supposed to replace.

Not sure what you're trying to store....
In the 70's we had cassette tapes. Now MP3's.
Werent LPs 33 1/3 rpm??It seems like yesterday I was playing my 45 LPs.
So why then would you think that's what it was designed for? As far as I can tell, there was no thought whatsoever given to what would or wouldn't fit in those damned useless cubbies! It seems that Mazda designed the door pocket to fit a bottle/soft drink. I find it unusable because the bottle/soft drink will be sitting with an angle.
The door pockets are small and odd shaped. Has anyone tried to modify the pocket to allow larger pieces like maps or other paper or small books?
I am considering cutting the rear part to increase the storage space. Anyone tried this?
The 2016 CX-5 has huge storage bins on the front doors now. Thanks for reading this thread Mazda.
