02 Mazda P5 "Bumblebee"

I'm still alive! its been too long since i've updated this thread...

that ebay antenna - in short, its a pos. top half unscrewed and won't stay tightened down anymore, so i took it off. painted faded down to the copper(?) before that. any suggestions to a qualitative short antenna are welcome

new changes - got jdm taillights, 03.5 cupholder upgrade which came with the full set of interior trims(console, radio surround, door handles, switch plates) painted in gunmetal grey, and msp lip. still looking for a pair of fog deletes.

I run an s2000 antenna. Some people dont like them because the base is a little wider than the mount on the car. I didnt like the sound of that until I saw one in person. Its not bad. Most people seem to like the cx-7 antenna.

Tails look good, where'd you get them?

And youre killing me, what model/specs are the wheels!

Tails I bought from a forum member (thx mp5la!), complete with bulbs and wiring harness. I was surprised at how good of a condition they were in

Wheels are Varrstoen V3 16x8 +25 offset. Should fit just perfect on the rear, might be a bit out past the fenders on the front. Will probably need to roll my fenders. Tires are 215/40

Nice updates man!! Those wheels should look mint (thumb) and for quality antenna, definitely s2000 or cx-7 for sure. Keen to see the wheels on!

You'll definitely need to roll the rears if you haven't already. Fronts come sort of halfway rolled. Are you planning on lowering any more?

It all depends on the look. The overall diameter of the new wheels+tires will be slightly smaller than my current setup. Depending on how it sits, I may lower it a bit more to close the wheel-fender gap, but I'm not tucking the wheels

Soon... no pics yet but I finally got the tires mounted and balanced. Haven't put them on yet and still need to figure out my new suspension setup

Height and camber mostly. So I don't rub. It's going to take some tweaking, and I'm very particular about looks

Unfortunately, after this, the build is probably going to hit a standstill for a while. I'm buying a truck for work and most of my extra money will go towards that

Couldnt pass up on a good deal. $1900 for a run and drive car with 68k miles, 5 speed. But has a bit of rust, so Ill be swapping the drivetrain over to my current one before taking it apart to fix the rust. Then dropping a KL in it.

Thats about it for now, still have parts waiting to be installed tho..

SokieTech hood dampers installed and removed the hood prop bar. Just have to find a way to get rid of the bracket the bar was clipped to.. Also removed the hood liner- it was beaten up and frayed around the edges.

I've always thought about getting the striker plates! I just didn't because I don't want another potential rattle on my car.. unless I use double adhesive tape I guess.
Hood dampers look great too! Seems like that brand doesn't ship to my location.. shucks.

That does suck. But no rattle from the striker plates, get them they look great! And they do go on with double sided tape, even comes with the tape on them. Literally as easy as peel and stick

Car looks great, and kudos to you for keeping it on the road!

I miss my Protege. Had some fun times in that car. When I see a thread like this, makes me want to get another just to tinker with. Then, I start to surf craigslist, and get sensible. I would have more fun with a 1st gen Miata project.

Thanks! Definitely a fun car and easy to work on, which makes it easy for a noob like me [emoji23]
