hi

i am looking to get winter tires for my 2012 CX-9 GT AWD.

Need guidance on 2 issues
a) Size - Should i stick with the Original rim size i.e 20" or Get new set of 18" rims (whats the impact of going to an 18" set)

b) Tires - which winter tire is better
Toyo GSI 5
OR
Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1
OR
Michelin X-Ice Xi2

Would appreciate any guidance

Regards
AJ

you can actually go down to a 17" wheel according to tire rack. as long as the overall diameter is the same or close, it's generally preferable to go with a smaller rim for the snow.
as for tire choices, I usually look for more open blocks, the more aggressive the better.

Hi...
can you please clarify what does ' open block' imply?

Don't use the 20 inch wheels. Choose either 18 or 17 for winter tires. In my area (New England) the Blizzak's have the strongest reputation. Not sure if that is just good marketing.

On my 2009 GT, I have TOYO GSi5 on 18" wheels. The TOYO's are great for the cold winters in Edmonton.
