I thought all protege 5 transmissions came with a speed sensor?

My transmission went out and I called LKQ and there quotes weren't as bad as I thought but they were asking if mine had or did not have the speed sensor? Do they change between years ? not entirely sure if it matters but thought I'd check with you guys first (crazy)

It depends if your car is equipped with ABS or not. None abs transmission has a speed sensor, and abs equipped does not have a sensor

how would I go about finding that out?

turn you key on the on position with out starting the engine if there is a light that says abs then you have abs, if you dont then its not equipped. Also you can look behind the the wheel to see if there is an abs wheel speed sensor. or look under the battery tray to see if the pump is there.
