Installing A Dash Cam

:
Pearl White AWD GT w/Tech
There have been 1-2 people I have spoken to online about installing a dash cam. Just wondering if anyone else can chime in on : dash cam model used, installation tips, and or placement.

For those of you who wonder what its good for , check out youtube and type in "russian dash cam".

Thanks!

I use the mini 0801 hardwired.

I used lukas lk-7900. Paid about $220 for the kit that includes automatic power cut-off device. I hard wired mine from the fusebox, and buried the wires along the trim.

Here's my installation.

Very ncie folks! I think the mini 0801 was on the top of my list as a friend of mine did some extensive research and said it had the best quality to price ratio...

and free amazon prime to boot!

Actually the G1W and its variations is the best dash cam for price/quality.

I personally ordered the G1WH through this redflagdeals hot deals thread: I paid 50.05CAD shipped from Malaysia

My first dash cam video filmed with the G1WH passed by an accident, must have just missed it:

I'm currently using the VF300w but probably looking to upgrade in the future, maybe with a better brand or with some updates at least. Maybe Garmin is a worthy unit or VicoVation

I have an Itronics ITB-100hd. Don't have it hard wired but rather mounted just below the mirror. Works great but I'm thinking of selling it because I don't use it very often.

I have 0801 from 3bay when seller had in on sale for $98 ( $ 120 now)

Nice cam. I've installed 32GB micro SD card, verified all works and just set-and-forget.

I take it home every 2 weeks and check recordings. All are fine so far.

I use registrator viewer to see GPS data, recording itself and many other interesting drive parameters.

I just made an offer on eBay and got one for $99. What class 32G micro card are you using get that works?

Thanks.

Interesting product review I will have to look into this!

If you want something that people will not notice and break in to steal consider the Rearview DVR. It is an add on mirror that is a bit wider than stock so it can include a camera on the back edge. Most people will not notice it is an add on DVR. I got mine on Amazon but Ebay has better prices. Mine only has a front facing camera, now they have one with front and rear facing cameras for less that 100USD.

That appears to be more discreet however I prefer to leave my rearview in place given the fact I have the homelink and autodiming functions on it. The Mini 0801 should be small enough not to be easily seen by most ppl in my opinion. Do you have pics of yours installed by any chance?

I've had my DashCam on my CX-5 for almost a year, (mini 0801), no issues.
The way I have my mini 0801 mounted is a bit weird, and since the touring has a huge sensor area on the windshield.
I'll take pictures of my 0801 setup after lunch.

The silver circular thing on the dashcam is a polarizing filter from eBay.
The sensor cover is a b**** to open and you will definitely break the tabs. Cost about $8-$9 to replace (I think, I forgot)
