Brake grinding noise when cold

2012 Mazda5 Sport 6MT. For the first couple of minutes in the mornings, it sounds like there is some grinding noises coming from the front brakes. This goes away after a couple of stops. Pad wear is minimal with plenty of life left, and the rotors are in fine shape. Is this just from the OEM pads? Has anyone else experienced this noise?

Thanks!

You may be hearing your ABS anti blocking system working correctly. It chatters to stop the wheels from locking up, and could easily be confused with grinding. A little unnerving when first experianced. Might it have been a little slippery at these stops? Gravel, grease oil or ice?

My gut feeling is it's nothing to worry about. Good luck.

In a high moisture environment, the brake disks will get surface rust on them overnight - when you stop for the first several times, the rust is ground away, which can cause brake noise. If the ABS is going, the brake will probably pulsate.
