CX-5 Aftermarket Head Unit

With all the woes some customers have experienced with the infotainment system, has anyone done any research on or actually installed an aftermarket product, similar to this?

Yes, many have installed aftermarket units. Just browse a few pages down this section of the message board for some examples. Also, a word to the wise: if you're considering the 5600BHS, just get the 8500BHS. It's the same price and adds a few more features (like removable faceplate).

Any manufacturer's headunit will work provided that it's compatible with the PAC RP4-MZ11, the better of the two steering wheel interface adapters. Crutchfield is pretty good about showing you stuff that works together and fits. Just avoid the Parrot Asteroid Smart. It will NOT work well with the CX5 due to their proprietary steering wheel interface adapter.
