Ball Joint replacement

My left lower ball joint has gone bad and I can't get the old one loose from the wheel hub. I've tried a pickle fork and a BF hammer but I can't get it to break loose. My old ford escort had a trick where you had to put the fork in at a certain angle then pop the top of the shaft while you pried on the fork. Does anyone know if there's a trick like that on the M2? I'd appreciate any advice you have to give.

From looking at the factory manual it looks like it is one of the ball joints where there is a bolt which goes next to the ball joint. I am guessing you took the bolt out. If this is the case there should be a section you can take a screw driver and pry the two sides of it open slightly to get it out. I haven't had to do it yet on mine.

I have had good luck on the normal threaded ball joint style with hitting the hub where it mounts with a hard hammer. It basically jolts the whole thing making it move slightly with each it. It might take a number of hard hits, but It usually works for me.

I have pulled the knuckles off the lower arms several times now. We had one side which was a pita and we had to use a chisel to spread the gap larger. Just be careful not to hit the ball joint, shoot for the edge.
