mazda protege5 wont start but electronics turn on

My Mazda wont tune over, wont crank you can turn the key but no noise. Electronics turn on, we tried jumping it and it still wouldn't work. Any ideas what it could be?

Don't rule out the battery. One with shorted cells will not allow a jump. I'd take it out and have it tested. Another possibility is the starter.

Likely the starter, but have the batter tested.
