CX-5 Cargo Net solutions?

The cargo net that Mazda offers, which holds things to the floor, is not the sort of thing we're looking for. My wife became very fond of the net she had in her old RAV4, which connected at the rear, just inside the hatch, and you could put stuff "in". Something more like this:

This sort of thing is good for keeping a few shopping bags from moving around (or a couple of permanent bags of stuff in the trunk) without interfering with the floor or the main compartment in the trunk. Anyone know of anything like this that works in the CX-5, or equivalent alternatives?

Yes. What I did is take my old net (just like the one you have pictured) and connected it to the existing latches on the bottom, right by the seat, and the top, where the seat connects to the frame latches. I can take a picture and show you, if this is not descriptive enough.

Yes, please post a photo.

The OEM CX-5 net is retarded.

Just took the pics with my phone. You can see that the net is connected up top between the seat, and the bottom has loops that would typically be used for the standard net

For what it's worth, similar to paris1, I use this and think it's awesome: https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)

I was going to post the Rola as I started reading this thread. I bought my wife one for her Odyssey and it works so well I bought another for my Escape. I plan to move it to my next vehicle (likely a CX-5) when I replace the Ford. These are very well made, the compartments are adjustable and it folds flat if you need it out of the way. We bought ours from eTrailer.com.

I have it the same way, as the above picture. I have used zip tights, to secure them to the seat latches.

I just ordered this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned).

Planning on putting it across the back like the photo above and photo 3 in the description (it can be used both across the bottom like OEM mazda's or across the back of the seats). I'll let you know how it goes. It should come in on the 25th.

I do have that one from two months ago, but I use it flat on the floor like the production photo, mainly to keep things from banging around in the back. Also, $11.99 is a good price as at some point the price has gone up to $22.

My cargo net came in today. It doesnt seem as big as the one above since it doesnt touch the floor on the back unless there is something inside. I ended up using the top hooks to the hooks for the seats. Seem like when I fold the seats down and flip them back up it doesnt get in the way at all.

Resurrecting this thread since I'm wondering about a vertical cargo net option in the 2017.

Might go with the Rola trunk organizer linked in an above post, but also noticed this in the Japanese accessory catalog:

It looks like they are these (or very similar) cargo hooks:

After looking in my car, they would need to be screwed into or somehow otherwise fastened to the plastic trim -- there aren't any pre-existing mounting holes. Doesn't seem like that sturdy of a mounting location. I wonder if the Japanese CX-5 has something there to attach the hooks. Anyone know or perform a similar install?

they still didn't bring back the vertical cargo net for 2017 ? a fellow CX-5 owner, tomcat1446, did this awhile ago.......

Ah, thanks for the link. Some useful info there. Still wondering if the Japanese CX-5 has some special mounting points on the trim piece for the cargo hooks. You'd think the answer would be no or there'd already be hooks there, but on the Mazda 3 there are some mounting locations where the cargo hooks go (that are covered up, if you don't buy the hooks):
