Windshield replacement costs?

Ok cool, yea looks like with taxes and other little fees should be under $400. Good to know. Looking to buy one that needs a windshield.

Is that quote from your insurance co? If not, double check with them. I had mine replaced a few years back and all it cost was a $100 deductible. Small chips and such are free.

Just put a windshield in my wrx a few months ago. 230 after tax for a really similar windshield.

Make sure you get good glass. Pilkington is a good brand. Cheap glass will start to pit quick. I would say $300-$400 for a Pilkington windshield installed is a decent price.

I didn't know you had a choice when it came to windshield glass replacement. My windshields seem to get pitted so much from my daily driving, I just thought it was regular road debris from a long commute.

You do depending upon the glass shop you choose. PGW (formerly PPG auto glass) or Pilkington are the brands you want. Check the Pilkington's though, I've seen a few that had a slight green tint/hue to them. It seems to vary from windshield to windshield.

For what it's worth, I usually go PGW.

Oh. Do you ask the windshield company which glass they carry? I usually go with SafeLite since their service has never given me problems. I've replaced four windshields (all different cars at different times). All from road debris rocks cracking the windshield, not accidents.

Yeah, just call around to glass shops in your area. I usually go with a local shop with a good reputation.

just in case anyone else is digging through this for info, I was just quoted $630 for a 2002 Mazda Protege5 windshield. With a bit of pushing and shoving they will do it for $450. The higher price is if its for insurance... should be criminal, since ultimately we all pay for the insurance... (this is in British Columbia, a stupid socialist utopia where we all get ripped off). Anyway, eventually I found a price at $280, though most were $320 to $350
