my mazda cx-7 makes a ghirijjjj noise.

My 09 mazda cx-7 is making a ghirijjjj noise on cold start-ups. It makes that noise for the first 2-3 seconds and ten it stops and runs normal. I can't seem to figure it out where the noise is coming from. I have already changed the oil to full synthetic but that wasn't the problem. Any ideas? Thanks

Not sure what the heck a "ghirijjjj" noise is... but my assumption would be VVT Actuator

It's a grrrrrrr noise but only happens for the first 3 seconds on startup.

It sounds like step 1 in the 2 step failure sequence of the VVT actuator. If you get it fixed now it's just a VVT actuator and timing chain that need replaced. If you wait for step 2 to happen then the intake valves will crash into the pistons, ruining both and requiring the head to be pulled at the very least. The cost of this repair is roughly triple what your current repair will cost. I've been there.

Took it in to mazda with 61,000 miles on it and they told me it was the timing chain and vvt actuator and that it was still covered my warranty. Thanks guys for the help.
