Guide How To Disable Daytime Running Lights (instructions)

Nothing to do for me.
I'm pretty sure to have exactly follow the instructions, but it seems that on my european model the procedure doesn't work.
As I installed the eBay DRL leds and I don't want both (stock and new) running, I'll have to look for the right cable to disconnect (the place where #51 fuse should be is empty!)
Does anyone know which color is the DLR cable?

Is it possible these instructions are missing a step? I ask because I tried them without success, but something about Step 7 (confirm DRL setting) seems off. It says verify by releasing the parking brake; if DRL is activated DRL will come on with park brake off and go off when park brake is on (so if you've succeeded in turning it off, the DRLs won't come on when you release the parking brake). However, starting this procedure from a stopped and parked car (engine off), Step 7 won't work because the car is in park, so the DRL won't come on regardless of park brake engagement. So it would have to be in neutral for Step 7 to work, right? But the instructions don't say anything about the gear selected. Am I missing something?

I was about to give up, when I tried it for the last time. The missing procedure (step 7) is to turn on the vehicle while pressing on the brake. It worked for me.

So is this how you executed the procedure?

1. Apply the parking brake.
2. Set the ignition switch to the ON position (engine off).
3. Press and hold the brake pedal. Continue to press the pedal until the procedure is completed. (Other notes deleted.)
4. Turn the headlight switch from OFF to the parking light position 5 times and end with the switch in the OFF position. (Other notes deleted.)
5. Press the hazard warning switch 10 times within 5 seconds (on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off). (Other notes deleted.)
6. Turn the headlight switch from OFF to the parking light position 5 times and end with the switch in the OFF position. (Other notes deleted.)
6.5. START THE CAR.
7. Confirm DRL setting is changed by releasing the parking brake. (Other notes deleted.)

Don't know how, but after twenty thirty tries, I managed to get it work. I tried to review my memory at the moment I got it work, the overall procedure was about the same but here is something I had done:

btw, I have 13 Touring, Non Tech package.

1. Automatic gear is in "P"
2. After pushing the start key for twice, in less than 1 sec, i press on the brake.
3. I did not press buttons super fast, I only do it like a regular fast beat, like 1,2,3,4,5,6...etc, smooth quick and firm on each step
4. And I tried to connect quickly between the parking light switch and hazard light switch and when it goes back to parking light switch.
5. at last, while I still press on the brake, i started the engine while is has the handbrake up and in "P"
here is a step i don't remember which one:
6a. I shift first, and then lower the handbrake to verify.
6b. or I lower the handbrake first and shift next to verify.

(the whole procedure is step by step and nonstop until even after engine start)

The problem is after this, I repeated the procedure to see if I can reverse it, IT DID NOT.......I tried a couple times and the running light never came back on......lol

Hope this help and may be someone can confirm the reverse step.

Being an introvert by nature, I don't like drawing attention to myself or my car by displaying Daytime Running Lights. So I figured the above detailed procedure would be a very good idea. I went through the steps several times, but on every attempt the DRL were still illuminated. By the 26th try, I must have gotten something out of sequence because my car emitted several loud chirps, then a siren noise cycled up and down twice. At that point I heard an electronic hum, the whine of servo motors, and smelled ozone in the air. The car vibrated throughout and a secondary heads-up display appeared with cross-hairs and the words "Anti-personnel Device Engaged" flashed on the glass. Has anyone else had this happen? It seems very embarrassing to me and I would like it to go away. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I get the same symptoms any time I try to get the car's iPod interface to work...

On my 2015 GT without Tech Package, I was able to just pull the DRL fuse to disable the lights. High beams still function normal.

I spent $60 to upgrade the P13W DRL bulbs in my '15 Grand Touring w/Tech pkg to LEDs. I chose the 6K LEDs which gives the car a unique appearance. My DRLs are staying on.

Sorry... (bling)

Have a 2015 GT with tech, got it to work in the first try, didn't have to start the car at any point. It's pretty easy, just remember 5 of each light cycle.
(no break) push start
hold break
5 lights on/off cycles
5 hazards on/off cycles
5 lights on/off cycles
release break
done

Did you apply the parking brake first?

Did you have to reactivate it?

I bought new daytime running lights (yes, now matching the 9005! I bought the wrong size originally) from VLEDS, but now my DRL aren't turning on. It's not a bulb problem because, as I re-inserted the old bulb in one headlight, and left the new one in the other, both of them refused to turn on. ~_~ I messed with all of the light settings, put it in park/drive, circled the neighborhood, etc. Still won't turn on.

I'll be trying the reactivating thing later today.

I never disabled anything. CX-5s w/Tech pkg are a simple swap of the halogen P13W bulb with a P13W LED. My DRLs function as per the stock halogens.

Hm... I have the Touring version w/o Tech, and the DRL bulbs are 9005. I didn't disable anything prior, either, but now they're not working regardless if I put the stock bulb or the LED bulb in. Sigh.

I went to the dealership to ask about the DRL issue. The mechanic had the nerve to tell me that "daytime running lights aren't available for CX-5's." I told him that's bulls*** and brought up the official Mazda website, showing him that it's standard for all models to have daytime running lights--not to mention that I KNOW they've been working for me. After confronting him with that, he went into the back to talk to a "specialist", whatever that means. He comes out, greets me, and I tell him the issue. He prints out the sheet where you can de-activate/re-activate DRL and he attempts it thirteen times; doesn't work.

I was in a bit of a time crunch, so I had to leave to go back to work, but the DRL still aren't working. The mechanic nor the "specialist" saw a dead/malfunctioning fuse for the DRL. The funny part is that the LED bulb that replaced my previous DRL only work when I have my high-beams on! It's weird.
