Well, i fixed the OD flashing light on the dash by changing out the input shaft speed sensor, but now it has issues going into drive first thing in the morning. this morning it took a good 5 minutes before it would actually engage and start moving. i added fluid about a month ago thinking it was low, but it was not. there are no leaks, and after it warms up, it shifts a little rough if i get on it. normal driving gets normal shifting....i asked a "transmission specialist" over the phone to see if it might need a flush and explained the whole situation. he said "in his experiences with the higher mileage cars, don't change the fluid because the tranny is used to the viscosity now. if you put newer fluid in, it wont be as thick and can cause other problems". i have no idea when it was changed last and it has 170k miles on it. Any suggestions?

Sometimes the filter will get clogged up and make it shift weird. I've had 2 cars lose o/d over it and a simple filter change solved it, both had high miles so I re used the old fluid

ok if u added fluid when it was not low that is not a good thing u can blow seals that way and i think the p5 tranny is electronic so mayb u have a bad shift solenoid or pressure solenoid take a look at the fsm and see if it has those also mayb try a different trans ecu from a u pull it junk yard sometimes those go out too
