Dashboard Lights?

I have a new (to me) 2010 CX-7 GT - when I have the headlights set on auto, during daylight hours I can barely see the Nav screen or anything on the dashboard! I have already turned the brightness up as far as it will go... but I have to turn off the light switch to be able to see the dash... Isn't that the reason for having an "auto" setting, so you can have it on when needed... not having to turn on or off!? (uhm)

Anyone know of a fix or if there is a setting to correct this issue?

you should be able to push that button you're using for the brightness & that should be it. It should look similar to the trip odometer, but on the other side i think.
