the alt makes a god aful noise when the electric fans kick in

its cooked how do i remove it its at the bottom back of the

engine compartment

Are you sure the belt is not just loose and squealing under the extra load of the fans? I would think if it was the alternator itself, it would make noise all the time.

Yea...the alternator normally doesnt make noise when it goes bad, it just doesnt charge anything. If something is making a noise, its probably your belt.

or is it possibly your ac compressor? It will kick the fans on too when it comes on...
